On May 22nd 2019, Niki Veggou (19) and Κωνσταντίνα Λίτσα (19) organised and implemented a workshop on the topic of communication with the support and promotion of Solidarity Mission. Through none-formal education methods and techniques, that they have learnt during their participation in the Youth Exchange ‘Just Arrange It’ earlier this year, both undergraduate students proved to be excellent facilitators.

The first step of becoming a better communicator is discovering your personality style and learning to see the tells of everyone else’s style. Communication can be broken down into four styles based on people’s behaviour characteristics, namely Analyser, Controller, Supporter, and Promoter. All types of communication have their pros and cons.

Analysers are discipline, detail oriented, structured and organised. They are visual and logical but lack passion and spontaneity. They are formal but easy going.

Controllers are confident, goal oriented and focused. When controllers speak, they appear mean and uncaring, which sometimes ruins relationships. They are formal and dominant.

Supporters are focused on emotions, they are givers and respectful. They tend to be people pleasers.

Promoters are passionate, exciting, and energetic. However, sometimes, they could be overwhelming. They are easy going and casual.

There is an easy test here that you can take and find out which one you fall in. You could also find more information about the four types here.

At Solidarity Mission, we are grateful for the initiative of Niki and Konstantina. Their work, engagement, and passion are what gives us faith in the young generation in Athens, Greece. We look forward to working on a regular basis with them.

The workshop event is part of the dissemination process of the Youth Exchange ‘Just Arrange It’ that was organised by our dear partners at
Cherry International Foundation that took place in Ommen, the Netherlands from 14 – 25 February 2019. The project was funded by Erasmus+.
